Each month the USO Kaiserslautern Discover program offers train orientations and classes that provide useful information about riding the trains in Germany. During the class, you will tour the train station and even practice using the ticket machine. Our instructor will share information about special offers, such as group and family tickets before we board the train to one of the many fascinating destinations in the local area! Train transportation and city orientation are included. Please bring money for lunch, shopping, snacks, refreshments, and entrance fees. Large strollers are not recommended for these trips.
Saarbrücken is home to 180,000 people and due to its proximity to the French border, this cosmopolitan city has a definite French flair! We will be visiting on a Saturday, so the stores in the conveniently-located mall and pedestrian shopping mile will be open and are full of popular stores. Our guide will provide a city orientation and show you the historical highlights and give you suggestions for places to try the local traditional foods. Whether you want to shop, visit a museum, or tour the underground casemates (at your own expense), this capital city on the Saar river will not disappoint you, and you will want to return again and again!
Orientation Includes German rail orientation, train transportation, city tour of Saarbrücken with a USO instructor.
