Spend the day with the USO and learn a few things about Kaiserslautern you may not know! We will share the local legends with you and give you a historical overview of the city with plenty of photo opportunities. We’ll give you lots of practical information and teach you some local German customs. Explore the farmer’s market and enjoy lunch or shopping in the city during your free time.
During this month’s Kaiserslautern orientation, you will have the opportunity to visit one of Kaiserslautern’s most famous landmarks: the Barbarossa Castle. We have arranged a special tour of the castle’s underground tunnels and the city’s formal reception hall, the Casimir Saal. These are not accessible to the public without an appointment! After the guided tour, you will have time for lunch (not included) and shopping in the city. If you plan to shop downtown, we recommend you bring VAT forms since most merchants accept them. Our instructor will point out historical sites and can suggest fun and interesting things for you and your family to do. Come and see what we have in store for you!
