Glasgow – Glencoe – Loch Ness – Inverness – St. Andrews – Edinburgh
Itinerary (subject to change)
DAY 1: Departure from Böblingen Panzerkaserne PX parking lot at 05:00 am. Departure from Ramstein Shell Autohof, bus parking lot at 06:00 am (parking fee € 5/day). Departure from Kaiserslautern Daennerplatz, P+R parking lot at 06:30 am. Departure from Wiesbaden Washington Str. corner JF Kennedy Str. (off post), bus waiting area at 07:45 am. After a stop for brunch on the Autobahn, we travel to the harbor of Amsterdam, Holland where we board our ship in the afternoon. After check in, we join an extensive buffet dinner on board. Take advantage of the ship facilities in the evening!
DAY 2: Morning arrival in Newcastle. Breakfast on board and check out. After disembarkation we travel to Glasgow with a short stop at Gretna Green, the most popular place for runaway weddings. In the early afternoon we start with a sightseeing tour of Glasgow with our local guide. Afterwards we check in to our hotel. Free time for shopping or a pub crawl. Your guide will make suggestions!
DAY 3: After breakfast and check out we depart for the Highlands of Scotland. We stop for picture at the „bonnie, bonnie banks“ of Loch Lomond. We travel onwards through Rob Roy Country of Clans MacGregor and Campbell to Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous glens, site of the 1692 massacre of the Clan MacDonald. Here we pause for a photo to soak up the atmosphere in this haunting glen. Continuing, we stop in the Fort William area for lunch, then journey onwards, passing beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before we enter the natural beauty of the Great Glen. Passing the Caledonian Canal and Fort Augustus we drive along the shore line of Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. Loch Ness, famous for sightings of Nessie, the Loch Ness monster is worth a longer stop, where you can choose to take a boat cruise across the Loch and to explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle (appr. £ 29 per person). Evening arrival in Inverness, check in and dinner at our booked hotel.
DAY 4: After breakfast and check out we travel from the Capital of the Highlands to the Whisky distillery Dalwhinnie for a tasting of their whisky and handmade chocolates. Dalwhinnie Distillery is the winner of the “Best Distillery Tour in Scotland Award from Drinks International” in 2017! Crossing the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, we enter the „Kingdom of Five“ and visit the beautiful medieval town of St.Andrews. Free time to enjoy a walk around the town, to see the oldest golf course in the world and Scotland‘s oldest university, where Prince William met Kate Middleton. In the afternoon we depart for Edinburgh. Hotel check in. Free time in the evening to enjoy the many offered activities in Edinburgh. Your guide will make suggestions.
DAY 5: After breakfast and check out we join a city tour of Edinburgh with our local guide and a final stop at a Woolen Mill, before we say Good Bye and drive to Newcastle in England. Short picture stop at the Scottish / English border before we arrive at the harbor. Embarkation and dinner on board. Enjoy the facilities on board.
DAY 6: Buffet breakfast on board. After disembarkation we travel back to Germany. Lunch and dinner en route. Late evening arrival at points of origin.
